Camembert de Normandie was invented at the time of the French Revolution, by a peasant woman named Marie Harel, who following the suggestions of a priest fleeing from the well-known region of Brie. It was Napoleon III, after years, who went to Camembert had the opportunity to taste it and to appreciate it so much to give the cheese a name: that of the village where it was produced
